Planning Approval for Institute of Genetics and Cancer

We are very pleased to confirm that we have secured planning consent for the £10m expansion of the University of Edinburgh’s Institute of Genetics and Cancer (IGC) at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. The project comprises the extension of our original Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (IGMM/Systems Medicine) development, the first phase of which was completed in 2015.

This latest phase of development sees the physical extension of the striking glass fronted Phase 1 block, northwards to the corner of the site providing additional wet and dry laboratory space as well as additional office, breakout meeting and collaboration space. The project represents the continuation of a long and successful collaboration with the University’s College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine as well as continuing our long association working on the Western General Hospital site, both for the University and NHS. Works are scheduled to commence on site in early 2022 and are expected to take around 18 months to complete.
