Edinburgh Bioquarter Masterplan
The Edinburgh BioQuarter is a joint development initiative by Scottish Enterprise, University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian to create a world top-ten biomedical research campus. The idea is to provide a cluster that harnesses private sector biomedical research and development with academic research based at the existing hospital and medical school at Little France.
Oberlanders worked closely with the client group to develop the briefing and vision for the campus expansion, and have designed a masterplan for development of approximately 1 million square feet of additional academic and commercial research facilities on a rural green belt site on the Edmonstone Estate, next to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The development will be rolled out over the next 10-15 years.
