This 2750m² research laboratory and HQ building for Pantherix, in the West of Scotland Science Park, Glasgow was designed to provide research and analytical chemistry laboratories with ancillary accommodation for the development of anti-infective therapeutics.
Flexibility and value for money for the developer was ensured by designing the first floor plant room so that it could be converted in the future into lettable office space. In addition, exposing the plant room with glazing, utilising colour and placing the laboratory flues in a prominent location, all helped to confirm the building’s identity as a research laboratory. This was enthusiastically accepted by both the client, developer and Planning Department.
The project was originally commissioned by the Glasgow Development Agency with Oberlanders subsequently novated to the developer 'Neilstra' on a design and build basis.
