Lanark Sheriff Court, Lanark

Oberlanders were appointed by The Scottish Court Service to undertake alteration and extension work to the Grade B listed Lanark Sheriff Court.

The project involved refurbishment of the existing courtroom, provision of a new courtroom along with an extension providing new custody and interview suites, fiscal’s office, witness and jury rooms and new sheriff’s chambers.

Critical elements included careful structural alteration of the existing Grade B listed building and general refurbishment and upgrade of the building fabric. The project was undertaken with a ‘partnering’ main contractor which allowed early consideration of critical technical & buildiability issues at the design stage.

The project was successfully completed on time and on budget in December 2003 at a cost of £3m.
