The Glasgow Counting House
Phased refurbishment of a Grade A Listed building , located at 24 George Square in Glasgow, for a private developer.
The building was originally constructed as the headquarters for The Bank of Scotland and forms the south-west corner of George Square facing the city chambers. The ground, first and part of the second floor have lain vacant for several years and prior to works commencing in 2008 were in a very poor condition.
Phase 1 of the project, nearing completion, involved the creation of a restaurant shell unit on the ground floor, the refurbishment of office space on the first floor and the restoration of the George Square entrance. The second phase of the project, the restoration of the second floor, will be followed by works to the communal stairwell and the fifth floor of the building.
