National Indoor Cricket Centre, Mary Erskine School, Edinburgh
The National Indoor Cricket Centre is a multi-use recreational facility for the Scottish Cricket Union and Mary Erskine School. The project comprised demolition of the School’s existing swimming pool complex to make way for a new indoor cricket hall with associated changing room, warm-up, fitness and office facilities. The hall also facilitates a full size indoor basketball court, full size indoor hockey pitch and six badminton courts.
The external appearance of the building was designed to respect the original 1967 Mary Erskine School designed by Rowand Anderson Kininmonth & Paul Architects. The £2.3M project was completed in 2000 with the aid of funding from the National Lottery.
