Drumbrae Leisure Centre, Edinburgh

The Drumbrae Leisure Centre was the winning scheme in a limited Design and Build Competition for Edinburgh District Council by Oberlanders and Balfour Beatty Construction.

The facilities provided comprise a 25 metre, 5 lane Swimming Pool with a fully adjustable floor, an 884 sqm Sports Hall, Creche, Health Suite and Changing Facilities.

The pool hall features projecting glazing giving expansive and elevated views above the North West of Edinburgh to the Forth Bridges, Fife and beyond. The Sports hall is encircled by high level clerestory glass blocks to provide diffuse natural light. The project was completed in 1999 and the £3M construction cost was part funded by the National Lottery.
