Apartment Housing, Hope Terrace, Edinburgh
This project was initiated by Scottish Natural Heritage as part of their move to Great Glen House in Inverness. Their former HQ building in Edinburgh’s Grange Conservation Area was redesigned to form 17 residential units both in the existing Victorian Villa and in a new block designed as a replacement for a 1960s office extension.
The existing villa will be restored and the large garden retained as a communal facility for the residents. The new block is of a distinctly contemporary design but in form and proportion respecting the grain of the area Planning Consent was obtained in 2006.
