Oberlanders secured planning approval for the first phase of the proposed refurbishment works at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and School of Architecture. Since their appointment in early 2010 the project team have developed a major programme of refurbishment, alteration and upgrading works to both College buildings. The project, valued at approximately £11.5m, will be divided into two phases with the first phase due to commence on site in June 2011. The plans include an exciting new ‘glass box’ College entrance on Perth Road, a new internal ‘College Street’ providing informal teaching/learing facilities cafe, shop and IT/Media teaching studios, new space for Interior Design, Digital Interaction, Product Design, Jewellery and Post Graduate studies as well as refurbished studios for Architecture and Fine Art and refurbishment of the Francis Cooper Gallery.
