Our Story

1980s 1990s 2000s now

With Jack Oberlander retiring in 1993, David Lawson & Ian Low continued to develop the business throughout the 1990’s.

The Practice won a limited design competition for a new leisure complex and 25m swimming pool in Edinburgh for the City Council and expanded in the Education Sector with commissions from the Edinburgh Merchant Company Schools Board for facilities at Stewart’s Melville College, George Watson’s College and The Mary Erskine School. This included the award winning Swimming Pool & VI Form Centre for Stewart’s Melville College and the prestigious National Cricket Centre at The Mary Erskine School.

The 1990’s also saw Oberlanders continuing to develop in the Bio-technology Sector. The award winning, £30m, Pentlands Science Park was undertaken from 1994-1998 for The Moredun Foundation. This 130 acre park is now established as a world class centre of excellence in Bio-technology, Veterinary and Life Sciences.
